This song is a remix I did of Parov Stelar’s Booty Swing. I chose this song because of its old swing-like beat which I thought would be interesting to play around with.  This is one of my fastest produced songs. I produced the majority of it on a four hour train ride. The biggest challenge for me was the trumpet and saxophone section I added. First, I had to match the EQ of the trumpet and saxophone section to not only the EQ of the original song, but also the EQ that I applied to remove the original bass frequencies. Second, I wanted the saxophone and trumpet to sound natural instead of coming from a sampler. This became a huge issue and led to the song taking an extra month to be completed.

Looking back, I still feel that this section sounds artificial despite my attempts to fix it. I contemplated finding musicians at my school who could play the trumpet and saxophone and recording them. Unfortunately, I could not afford an audio interface and microphone set-up. Going forward, once I have the resources, I will buy the needed equipment and revisit this song in order to make the proper changes. I do not believe it is yet up to my standards.
