A little while ago I was at a family dinner party. While socialising one of my mother’s friends began to talk about a youtube channel that she was fond of. The channel consisted of an Indian guru who would answer broad questions about life. I came across one video in particular that I had to sample. In the video, the guru begins to answer the question “what is aura?”

Here is a small clip of the video:

I began by extracting the audio from the video and then used and EQ to try and remove the reverb that was naturally present because of the room he was in and because of the microphone.  Throughout the song I wanted to keep a energising mood. This is why I used instruments that were noticeably synthesised. In the beginning and the build up I used an Indian instrument called the Tabla which seemed to go very well with the bass line. Later on, I introduce a type of base that is very deep and gritty known as reese bass. I then used a sound that I am not entirely sure what to classify. I made this sound in Native Instrument’s Massive. This was one of my first attempts at sound design. Unfortunately I am having writers block with this song and am not sure what to add next.
