One of my favourite parts of producing music is the exploration of different genres. Lately, I have been dabbling in the world of film scoring. I am not an expert at scoring film so I decided to try something easier like a movie trailer. I began by going to youtube and finding a trailer for a movie. I chose of the Batman movies.
Here is the original trailer:
I then moved the trailer into my DAW and removed the audio so that just the video was left behind.
The way I went about this project was not structured at all. Normally, my goal is to bring the main elements of a song idea I have in my head into the DAW. For this project I played around with different instruments and kept things that sounded good.
I began with simple elements such as piano and strings, and then later on added more experimental instruments such as the gritty bass.
As of now I face two issues. The first being the part of the track that is off tempo (definitely noticeable). The second being that it is proving to be much more difficult that i was anticipating to score a few minuets.
Unfortunately the down side to this project is the fact that I can not find the character voice dubbing on its own and put it on top of my trailer.
My version so far:
