This mod was fairly simple. I only had to do a little bit of soldering, glueing and drilling. The final product left me with a button that had a light up reaction when the controller vibrated. Most video game controllers today have an un-balanced motor in them, thus allowing the whole controller to vibrate or rumble. Having a vibrating controller adds realism to the person playing the video game. I find this to be most effective in racing games or shooting games. Every time I shoot in the game I receive haptic feedback, just as if I was using a real gun, however, adding  the light up reaction in the controller enhances my experience as player.

The mod was simple because all I had to do is solder a 3v LED to one of the rumble motor’s contacts and place the LED behind a button.

Here is the PCB inside the controller.

Here are the unbalanced motors (rumble motors):

Here I have drilled out the back of the “dome” button and glued the 3v LED in:

^^Unfortunately I was out of electrical tape and shrink tubing.^^

I have now soldered the button to one of the rumble motors. Be sure to check that the polarity is correct.:

The last step was to place the button back and close the controller up:
